Our goal
Every dollar counts – and every dollar makes a difference
From pool entry and event tickets to auctions, raffles, and donations, every cent goes straight to the causes that will make a life-saving difference.
Every dollar raised from door sales will go to the Canterbury Westpac Rescue Helicopters.
50% of all other funds raised from the evening will be split between the Canterbury Westpac Rescue Helicopters and a new dedicated helipad and pathway in Hanmer Springs, to provide a safe, paved, and well-lit landing zone that ensures the Westpac Rescue Helicopter can land quickly and safely, day or night.
This project is in line with MISSION 2026, a regional initiative by the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust to modernise and standardise rescue equipment, ensuring crews have the very best tools to save lives.

What is Night for Flight?
A special one-off after-hours event at Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa raising funds for Canterbury Westpac Rescue Helicopters and a new helipad for Hanmer Springs.
Where does my money go?
Proceeds support Canterbury Westpac Rescue Helicopters and the construction of a dedicated helipad in Hanmer Springs to improve emergency response times in the area.
What should I bring?
Swimwear, towel, and warm layers for after your soak.
What does it cost to get in?
A minimum donation of $10 per person to go towards the Canterbury Westpac Rescue Helicopters will get you in the door to join this special event. You can either donate at the door on the night or go online and purchase a ‘donation ticket’ in advance!
Are kids welcome?
Yes, this is a family-friendly event. Children must be supervised at all times in and around the pools.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive from 5pm to allow time for check-in and to get settled.
How long does the event go for?
Night for Flight starts at 5:00pm and runs through until 10:30pm, with all guests asked to leave the water at 10:00pm.
Are all areas of the complex open for this event?
Yes, our entire complex will be available to guests – this includes our upper deck with a variety of pools to sit, soak and enjoy, and our lower deck with family-friendly activities and slides running until 10:00pm.
What if it rains?
The event proceeds in most weather conditions. We’ll communicate any weather-related changes by email and our socials. Follow Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa on social media to stay up to date.
Is the event accessible?
Accessibility Wheelchair access is available. For specific requirements, please get in touch so we can help plan your visit.
Are refunds and transfers available?
No – as all money raised will be going towards life-saving causes we are unable to transfer tickets purchased to alternative days or refund these.
I have an Annual Swim Pass to the pools – can I get free entry?
We love our Annual Swim Pass holders – but for this special event outside our normal trading program we ask that attendees make a minimum donation of $10 to the Canterbury Westpac Rescue Helicopters.
I have purchased a standard pool ticket – can I use this for entry to the Night for Flight event?
No – this is a special event, and all guests are asked to make a donation to the Canterbury Westpac Rescue Helicopters.
